CFD units on-scene with burn victim

On Wednesday, Dan McInerney captured some striking images from an incident that took place at 4404 W. Roosevelt Street. The location is believed to be a recycling facility. Engine 38 was initially dispatched for an ambulance assist, but upon arrival, they discovered a burn victim on the scene. This prompted the involvement of Battalion Chief Bn13 to coordinate the response and ensure proper medical support was provided. The Office of Fire Investigation (OFI) later visited the patient at the hospital to gather more details about the incident. The photos show the emergency vehicles involved in the response, highlighting the quick action taken by the Chicago Fire Department. The first image features Chicago Ambulance 21 (C-142), a new Braun ambulance mounted on a Ford F-450 chassis. This unit is part of the city’s modern fleet designed to provide efficient emergency care. The second photo showcases Engine 38, a 2006 Spartan Gladiator, known as the "Crimson" model, with shop number D-631. This engine is one of the older units still actively serving in the department. The third image shows Battalion Chief Bn13 in a 2010 Ford Expedition, bearing shop number B-547, which serves as the command vehicle during major incidents. These photos give a glimpse into how the fire department responds to emergencies, especially those involving injuries that require specialized attention. It's clear that coordination between different units is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of those affected.
