Chicago experienced a severe 2-11 alarm fire this morning at a two-story commercial building located at 2100 W. Fulton Street. The incident began around 4:30 a.m., when a caller reported smoke and flames. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions, prompting an immediate escalation of the alarm. The fire had already spread through the roof, and investigators later determined that the structure featured a bowstring truss roof, which significantly increased the risk and complexity of the operation.
In response, multiple units were dispatched, including two tower ladders and the Snorkel from Squad 1, which deployed elevated master streams. In addition to these aerial resources, two ground-level multi-purpose units were also on scene. A Level I HazMat team was called in as a precautionary measure due to potential hazardous materials involved.
The fire quickly became one of the most intense incidents of the day, with crews working tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. Local residents were advised to stay indoors, and traffic in the area was temporarily restricted. As of now, no injuries have been reported, but the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
