Honeywell Expands Its New Business in Wuhan

On September 2, 2014, Honeywell's Turbocharger Technology Group, a manufacturer of automotive turbochargers, celebrated the official opening of its new turbocharger plant in Wuhan. It is understood that the new plant in Wuhan will enable Honeywell’s turbocharger capacity in China to triple its current capacity to meet China’s rapidly increasing turbocharger demand.

The penetration rate of turbocharged technology in the Chinese new car market is 23%, and this figure will also increase significantly in the future. It is reported that Honeywell's new products launched in the Chinese market this year have already accounted for a quarter of its global new products. Han Tailing, president and chief executive officer of the company's transportation system group, said: "With more and more attention to energy saving and emission reduction in China, turbocharging has turned from a niche technology to a mainstream solution for Chinese consumers. The opening of the new plant is an extension and expansion of Honeywell's turbocharger market in China."

According to reports, the company has a factory in Shanghai and a world-class technology center, including its world's second-largest turbocharger laboratory. Wuhan's new plant will use the latest production technology. In 1994, Honeywell's Turbocharged Technology Division established its first plant in Shanghai and currently produces more than 8 million turbochargers.
