The new maritime satellite mobile phone service offers voice connectivity through a portable handheld device operating on the Inmarsat network.
The service is expected to cover most of Asia and Africa by 2007, with full global coverage planned for 2008. The terminal released this time is the smallest maritime satellite phone available, comparable in size to a regular mobile phone and weighing just 210 grams.
