Take the Weichai engine remanufacturing as an example: On an engine that is scrapped on the market, consumers can sell it to Weichai at a price of 25% of the new machine. According to the data obtained from Weichai's power production practice, the added value of the production of 10,000 remanufactured engines is close to 360 million yuan, which can save 14.5 million kWh. In addition, compared with remanufactured new products, remanufacturing can save energy by 60%, reduce air pollutant emissions by 80%, and have obvious energy saving and emission reduction effects. According to statistics, by the end of 2010, the market volume of WD-series engines will reach 2.2 million units, and more and more engines are entering or undergoing major repairs. The pressure on the engine maintenance service is increasing day by day; on the other hand, Due to factors such as long engine overhaul time and low maintenance quality, it is imperative for customers to have a high quality, low price product to replace the overhaul. This provides a very large potential demand space for the launch of remanufactured engines.

On March 2, 2008, China's auto parts remanufacturing pilot began. The National Development and Reform Commission formally approved the approval of 14 pilot companies, including FAW and Weichai, and identified the scope of remanufactured products, including engines, transmissions, steering gears, generators, and starters.

Li Feng said that Weichai Remanufacturing Corp. began batch production in January 2009. Last year, it produced a total of 1,679 remanufactured engines and achieved sales revenue of 30.97 million yuan. As of March this year, a total of 2,896 remanufactured engines were produced. Now, production has increased month by month, and the entire market has shown a good situation in which demand exceeds supply. The development goal of Weichai's remanufacturing industry is to build 10,000 units next year and reach 100,000 units by 2020, becoming a new growth point for Weichai.

At present, Weichai distributes 36 service centers and 2,700 service stations across the country to form a complete marketing service network. Through this network, it is possible to collect users' scrapped engines, and to sell and maintain the remanufactured engines to form a closed loop logistics network.

China National Automobile Industry Association deputy secretary-general Qi Yiping said that by 2015, China’s automobile production and sales volume will reach 22 million units, and the vehicle ownership will reach 134 million units; by 2020, the automobile production and sales volume will reach 25 to 30 million vehicles. Car ownership will exceed 200 million vehicles. At the same time, the demand for spare parts for automobiles is also huge.
