Autodesk to Acquire Upchain to Accelerate Product Development Data and Processes in the Cloud>
**San Francisco, April 15, 2021** – Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Upchain, a leading provider of cloud-based product lifecycle management (PLM) and product data management (PDM) solutions. This strategic move aims to enhance collaboration across the entire product development ecosystem, empowering engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, and other stakeholders with seamless access to data, regardless of the CAD system they use.
“We are thrilled to have completed the acquisition of Upchain,†said a spokesperson for Autodesk. “This partnership brings together two powerful visions focused on simplifying collaboration and driving innovation in the manufacturing industry.â€
Upchain has developed a cloud-native platform that breaks down traditional barriers in PLM and PDM systems, enabling manufacturers to manage complexity more efficiently by centralizing data throughout the product development process.
“Resilience and collaboration are more important than ever for manufacturers as they navigate increasingly complex product development challenges,†said Andrew Anagnost, President and CEO of Autodesk. “By integrating Upchain’s technology into our ecosystem, we’re delivering a more robust and connected cloud platform that empowers customers to unlock new insights and drive business success.â€
Autodesk will continue to support Upchain’s open architecture, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of CAD tools, including Inventor, AutoCAD, and Fusion 360, as well as other industry-standard systems.
“Acquiring Upchain is a major step forward in meeting our customers where they are,†said Scott Reese, Executive Vice President of Product Development and Manufacturing Solutions at Autodesk. “It helps remove collaboration barriers and bridges the gap between data and process management, giving companies the agility they need to stay competitive.â€
With a diverse customer base spanning automotive, aerospace, industrial machinery, transportation, entertainment, and textiles, Upchain has long been a leader in cloud-based collaboration solutions.
“We’ve always believed in making cloud collaboration accessible and efficient across the entire product lifecycle,†said John Laslavic, CEO and Founder of Upchain. “Autodesk shares this vision, and we’re excited to work together to redefine how engineers and manufacturers collaborate, bringing better products to market faster.â€
The transaction is expected to close during Autodesk’s second quarter of fiscal year 2022, which ends on July 31, 2021, subject to customary closing conditions.
