Glenview moves to temporary station>
The Glenview Fire Department has officially moved out of Station 6 located at 1815 Glenview Road. As previously reported, the building is set to be demolished as part of a larger downtown redevelopment project. In the meantime, the department’s headquarters and administrative offices have been temporarily relocated to the police station, while the fire companies have been dispersed across different locations:
- Battalion 6 is now operating from Station 14
- Ambulance 6 is based out of Station 13
- Engine 6 is currently stationed at a temporary location on the park district property along Glenview Road
These temporary arrangements are in place until a new facility is constructed. The old Station 6 building is now vacant, and several items have been removed for preservation. A memorial marker was taken down to be stored and reinstalled when the new site is completed. Additionally, a bench and bell from the original station have also been relocated.
Photos from Larry Shapiro show the current state of the temporary station, the living quarters and apparatus bay on the park district site, and the empty structure of the former headquarters. These images give a glimpse into the transition period as the Glenview Fire Department adapts to its new setup.
