The spiral chute is a gravity separation device used for separating non-ferrous metals, rare metals, and non-metallic minerals based on differences in density, size, and shape. It is widely applied in the processing of ores such as iron ore, gold ore, ilmenite, chromite, pyrite, zircon, rutile, monazite, phosphate, tungsten ore, tin, tantalum, and niobium.
The spiral chute operates under the combined forces of water flow, gravity, centrifugal force, and friction. Slurry is fed to the top of the spiral through a distributor, ensuring even distribution across each channel. As the slurry moves along the spiral, particles settle and separate according to their density and size. Lighter particles are carried outward by the water flow, while heavier ones move toward the inner edge of the spiral, resulting in efficient concentration.
