On October 18, the 1.8 million-ton/year methanol-to-olefins project of Zhejiang Xingxing New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., using the Dalian Institute of Chemical Technology, Dalian Institute of Chemical Technology, was held in Jiaxing Port Area. The project has a high technological content and a broad market prospect.

According to reports, the company plans to build two sets of 1.8 million tons of methanol to olefins project, the project covers an area of 633 acres, a total investment of 6 billion yuan, after completion of production can achieve an annual sales income of 15 billion yuan, reaching an annual profit after tax of 2.5 billion yuan. The first stage investment of 3.2 billion yuan is expected to be completed by the end of 2014 trial investment production.

DMTO is a high-tech project at the forefront of world-class coal chemical industry. It is a core technology for the production of ethylene, propylene, and other chemical products using coal as a raw material instead of petroleum. It is also used in coal-based methanol, polyolefin projects, PVC industry, coking industry, and ethylene plant transformation. The project has a broad market prospect and great economic potential.

It is reported that during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the olefin production capacity of China's DMTO approved equipment will reach 12 million to 15 million tons per year, accounting for 30% to 50% of the country's olefin production. It is expected that coal-to-olefins will become the focus of investment in the next 15 years, using coal chemical industry as a partial substitute for petrochemicals, reducing oil consumption and import dependence.
