Wedge Flowmeter Features and Installation Considerations

Wedge Flowmeter Features and Installation Considerations

Wedge flowmeter is a new type of flowmeter that began to gradually become practical in the 1980s. Its detection part is a V-shaped wedge (also known as a wedge-shaped throttle), and its rounded top angle is downward, which is favorable for suspension. The smooth passage of the liquid or viscous liquid of the particles does not cause stagnation on the upstream side of the throttle. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for the measurement of volume flow and mass flow in petroleum, chemical and other industries.

Wedge flowmeter features:
1) Suitable for measuring mud, coal tar pitch, coal water suspension and other high viscosity fluids;
2) At very low Reynolds number (even as low as Re = 500), the square root relationship between flow and differential pressure can still be maintained. The orifice flowmeter has a smaller side Reynolds number than the wedge flowmeter.
3) The individually calibrated wedge flowmeter has high measurement accuracy (up to 0.5%), and the accuracy of uncalibrated wedge flowmeter can reach 3%;
4) Simple structure, easy installation, use and maintenance;
5) Measurable corrosive media, because the differential pressure measurement is the use of diaphragm type double flange differential pressure transmitter, corrosive media can not enter the guide pipe and differential pressure transmitter, so as long as the processing of wedge material with corrosion-resistant materials The throttling element enables the meter to measure corrosive media.
Wedge flowmeter instructions:
Particularly suitable for high viscosity, low Reynolds number, medium measurement with suspended particles or air bubbles;
The measurement accuracy is not affected or limited by the dielectric constant and other characteristics of the fluid medium;
Wedge structure design is special, diversion effect, anti-clogging;
With fluid viscosity changes, temperature changes, density changes and other compensation functions;
Anti-vibration, anti-impact, anti-dirt, anti-corrosion, explosion-proof;
Simple structure, firmness, high reliability, easy installation, low operation and maintenance costs No moving parts, no wear, no re-calibration for long-term use.
Wedge Flowmeter Installation Considerations 1. The general wedge flow sensor is equipped with front and rear measuring tubes that can be installed and used horizontally or vertically. When the sensor is mounted on a vertical pipe, the fluid should flow from top to bottom. When measuring the liquid, care should be taken to make the differential pressure transmitter evade the air bubbles in order to avoid causing drift of the instrument zero point;
2. The upstream and downstream sides of the sensor should be equipped with a straight pipe section. The inner wall of the pipe should be smooth, clean and free of attachments.
3. When installed horizontally, the wedge differential pressure element should be 90 degrees from the centerline of the pipe. For vertical installations, differential pressure transmitters must be zeroed due to the slight static pressure effect between the tapping points.
