The Daily Herald has published a series of articles detailing an ongoing investigation by the Illinois Department of Public Health into the Antioch Rescue Squad. The probe focuses on several members, including two EMTs who may face the loss of their licenses due to serious allegations of misconduct. State officials have confirmed that Kyle Shouse and Chris McBrady are under investigation for alleged abuse and mistreatment of both patients and coworkers. The charges include unauthorized use of prescription medications, such as injecting themselves or others with IV solutions without proper medical authorization. According to reports, they also allegedly added medication like Lasix and Benadryl to the food and drinks of unsuspecting colleagues during shifts. It remains unclear whether Shouse and McBrady are still employed by the Antioch Rescue Squad. However, officials stated that both were working at the squad when the alleged incidents occurred after 2008. The Daily Herald obtained internal documents from the Department of Public Health, which outline the specific accusations against them. Shouse is accused of reporting for duty while under the influence of alcohol and of mistreating patients. One incident involved him striking a psychiatric patient with a clipboard, yelling at another, and unnecessarily restraining a third. Meanwhile, McBrady is charged with administering medication without consent, falsifying patient care reports, and even throwing a patient’s walker while using profanity toward a patient. He also allegedly refused to transport a patient who later suffered an aneurysm. A third EMT, Ethan Bolin, is facing potential license suspension for taking a prescription-only IV solution and having another EMT administer it to him. Attempts to contact Bolin for comment were unsuccessful. The full article can be found HERE, and a previous report is available HERE.
