Autodesk Commits $250 Million in Software & Services to American Middle & High Schools>
Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) is taking a significant step forward in supporting the future of education and workforce development in the United States. In partnership with President Barack Obama and other leading technology and telecom companies, the company is expanding its "Design the Future" initiative to provide students with the tools and knowledge needed for careers in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM). This year, Autodesk will offer free access to $250 million worth of 3D design software, project-based learning materials, training, and certification programs to all middle and high schools across the country.
Carl Bass, President and CEO of Autodesk, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “We are seeing a growing demand for skilled workers in STEAM fields, but there’s a shortage of qualified graduates to fill these roles.†He added, “As a leader in design and engineering software, we have a responsibility to help prepare the next generation of innovators. That’s why we’re proud to support President Obama’s vision and make our program available to every secondary school in the U.S. over the next year.â€
The "Design the Future" program equips teachers with everything they need to inspire and educate students in critical thinking and creative problem-solving. Originally launched as a pilot in California in 2013 and later expanded to Texas in 2014, the initiative provides free access to over 14 Autodesk software products used in architecture, engineering, and entertainment. These tools are aligned with Common Core and ISTE standards, ensuring that students gain relevant and up-to-date skills. Within just six months, more than 350 schools in California had already joined the program. With the new national expansion, over 27,000 secondary schools will now have access to Autodesk’s educational resources.
This commitment not only helps bridge the gap between education and industry needs but also empowers students to explore their interests and potential in STEAM fields. By offering free software and training, Autodesk is making it easier for educators to integrate real-world design and engineering practices into their classrooms.
