Autodesk PowerMill, PowerShape and PowerInspect Join Fusion 360 Family, Better Uniting Manufacturing and Design>
In September, Autodesk is set to bring design and manufacturing even closer together by integrating PowerMill, PowerShape, and PowerInspect into the Fusion 360 family of solutions. Existing subscribers will maintain access to the advanced manufacturing features they currently enjoy while gaining the ability to leverage the next-generation, cloud-based design and manufacturing technology within Fusion 360, Fusion 360 Team, and the upcoming Fusion 360 Machining and Fusion 360 Additive Build extensions launching in October.
For many users, this transition will mean greater functionality at a lower cost. For instance, current PowerMill Premium subscribers will upgrade to the new “Fusion 360 with PowerMill Ultimate†package, which includes access to the Fusion 360 Machining and Additive Build extensions. Our goal with this shift is to ensure our customers' design and manufacturing processes remain adaptable and forward-thinking, empowering them to operate more efficiently and competitively.
This move is a significant step towards Autodesk's long-term vision of fostering seamless collaboration between designers and engineers, enhancing manufacturers' workflow connectivity, automating processes, and strengthening supply chain networks. By consolidating technologies onto a unified platform, Fusion 360 provides a cohesive experience across design, engineering, and manufacturing, with data at its core. This streamlined approach makes it easier to experiment with innovative tools like the recently announced generative design extension.
Consider the case of MJK Performance, a motorcycle parts manufacturer leveraging the generative design capabilities in Fusion 360 to explore multiple design iterations and evaluate material and manufacturing method trade-offs effortlessly. Similarly, 3-Dimensional Services Group achieved a 40% reduction in lead time from design to production floor when tasked with producing face-shield headbands for COVID-19 healthcare workers in partnership with Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia. As COO David Krajci emphasized, “anything is possible when teammates are fully aligned.â€
Anthony Wooten, a CNC machinist at Precise Tooling Solutions, praised the versatility of PowerMill and PowerShape, stating, “our tools are all in one toolbox.†He highlighted the seamless integration between PowerMill and PowerShape, which allows for error-free generation of tool paths. Stephen Hooper, VP and GM of Fusion 360, underscored the enhanced capabilities now available to Fusion 360 users, enabling teams to incorporate and explore advanced functionalities like never before.
To learn more about this and other developments, join the Advanced Manufacturing Summit virtual event on August 25th at 8:00 AM Pacific Time, featuring a keynote from Srinath Jonnalagadda, Autodesk Vice President of Business Strategy for Design & Manufacturing. The event will showcase how innovations like PowerMill and Fusion 360 are driving mold manufacturing efficiency at companies like Precise Tooling, as seen in the accompanying video.
As industries evolve, staying ahead means embracing integrated platforms that simplify workflows and enhance productivity. Autodesk’s latest offerings not only meet but exceed expectations, providing tools that inspire creativity and innovation across the board.
