Working fire in Des Plaines, 12-12-19
Thursday afternoon, December 12, 2019, saw the Des Plaines Fire Department responding to a fire at an apartment building located on 642 Colonial Drive. From what I’ve gathered, firefighters from Firehouse 63 were quick to respond and managed to contain the situation effectively. They focused their efforts on preventing the flames from spreading to the attic, which is always a major concern in such scenarios. The team executed an interior knockdown, worked on the roof, and moved into overhaul mode to ensure everything was under control. Thankfully, this fire remained a contained incident, and no civilian injuries were reported.
I managed to find some photos taken by the Des Plaines FD that capture the aftermath of the firefighting efforts. These images show firefighters diligently going over the affected area, ensuring there were no hidden dangers or remaining hotspots. It's clear that the crew did an excellent job in keeping the situation under wraps and minimizing potential damage.

It’s always a relief to hear that no one was hurt during these incidents, and I’m grateful for the swift action taken by the Des Plaines FD.
