Epoxidized Soybean Oil (ESBO)
Epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) is a kind of organic matter with the chemical formula of (RC2H2OR'COO)3C3H5, which is a light yellow viscous oily liquid at room temperature. Non-toxic The boiling point is 150℃(0.53 kPa). Soluble in most organic solvents and hydrocarbons, insoluble in water. Excellent heat resistance, light resistance and compatibility. It is often used as Plasticizer in PVC products, especially in PVC transparent products, food packaging products and other non-toxic products.
Epoxy soybean oil can be used in all PVC products, such as various food packaging materials, medical products, various films, sheets, pipes, refrigerator seals, artificial leather, floor leather, plastic wallpaper, wires and cables and other daily-use plastic products, and can also be used in special inks, paints, coatings, synthetic rubber and liquid composite stabilizers. Epoxidized soybean oil is soluble in alkanes and most organic solvents, and slightly soluble in water. Compatible with PVC, chlorinated rubber and nitrile rubber. Low volatility, low mobility, excellent heat resistance, light resistance and weather resistance. Non-toxic and biodegradable. Generally speaking, the higher the epoxy value of ESO, the better the heat resistance, the lower the iodine value of ESO, the better the compatibility with PVC, and the less likely it is to precipitate. Epoxy soybean oil can be used as plasticizer for epoxy Resin, PVC, chloroprene rubber, nitrile rubber, etc. However, the compatibility between pure epoxy soybean oil and epoxy resin is generally not good. Oligomers can be formed by ring-opening polymerization of epoxidized soybean oil, or reaction with maleic anhydride, or double bond crosslinking initiated by dicumyl peroxide, and the compatibility with epoxy resin is obviously improved.
