Subscribers Get Raft of New Capabilities from Autodesk Collections

Over the last few years, we've transformed how we deliver software updates to our customers. Now, we release features and improvements as soon as they're ready—so you can access the latest tools and capabilities faster than ever before.

Our approach to gathering product ideas has also evolved. Through close collaboration with our users and active participation in open communities like Ideastations, we’ve been able to understand your needs better and align our development efforts accordingly. Last year alone, customer input led to hundreds of new features and improvements across our product suite—and we're only just beginning.

We're continuing to embrace co-development with our users and delivering updates more frequently. However, there are still times when major software releases come in clusters, typically over a 1–2 month period. A few weeks ago, AutoCAD received its big batch of '2019' updates.

This week, we’re excited to announce a major set of updates for our Industry Collections. These collections bring together Autodesk’s most powerful tools into simple, industry-specific packages. Subscribing to a collection gives you the best value by connecting the full design-to-make workflow tailored to your field. We spoke with teams across the company to give you a preview of what's coming in each Collection...

Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection

“Many of the Revit 2019 updates were directly inspired by customer feedback on our Revit Ideas page. The top requests have been addressed, including a completely reworked view management system that makes it easier to work across multiple monitors. This feature alone received nearly 1,000 votes! We've also improved 3D workflows with full perspective editing, 3D level visibility, and introduced physically based materials to enhance architectural design. Additionally, we've expanded steel connection modeling, added rebar support for freeform structures, and made significant improvements to mechanical fabrication.”

— Chris Yanchar, Director of Building Design Products

“InfraWorks continues to evolve with a focus on design, optimization, and collaboration. In this release, we’ve added parametric tunnel modeling, line girder analysis for steel girders, and improved integration with Revit. We've also enhanced enterprise worksharing through BIM 360 document management.”

Linear Irrigation System

The main disadvantage of the translational sprinkler is that the whole machine can only move in a straight line along the direction of the vertical branch pipe, but can not move along the longitudinal direction, adjacent towers can not rotate between. For this reason, the translational sprinkler must have guiding equipment in operation. In addition, the central tower of the translational sprinkler is constantly moving,so the position of the water intake point is constantly changing. The usual method is to take water from open channels and drag away the hose supply.
