Autodesk Media & Entertainment brings new capabilities to enhance creativity and efficiency>
Autodesk continues to drive innovation in the Media and Entertainment industry, where creativity meets technology. Despite ongoing transformations, the sector remains resilient, constantly evolving how films, TV shows, and games are created. Talented artists continue to deliver groundbreaking content like *Inside Out 2*, the highest-grossing animated film ever, and cross-platform projects such as *The Last of Us* and *Fallout*, while seeking more efficient workflows.
At Autodesk, we believe that compelling storytelling must also be profitable. That’s why we’re focused on enhancing our tools and integrating AI to streamline repetitive tasks, allowing artists more time for creative exploration and storytelling. AI is revolutionizing entertainment, but it's not just about hype — it's about delivering real value without disrupting existing pipelines.
### Enhancing Core Tools with AI
We're embedding AI into our core creative tools to boost artist productivity:
- **Arnold** now uses AI for faster denoising, helping artists achieve cleaner renders in less time.
- In **Flame**, AI enables smoother slow-motion effects by generating intermediate frames, resulting in more realistic visuals.
- **Maya** introduces the **ML Deformer**, which learns character movement from scene data, allowing animators to pose characters in real-time with accurate deformations.
### Advancing the Industry with AI
One of our most exciting AI tools is **Wonder Studio**, which lets artists easily place digital characters into live-action scenes. At Autodesk University 2024, we’re introducing **Motion Prediction**, an AI feature that anticipates character movements even when the actor is partially obscured. This reduces noise and improves realism, making it easier for artists to focus on performance.
Peter France, a VFX artist at Corridor Digital, shared: “As an independent artist, I want to tackle ambitious projects. Wonder Studio will be a game-changer, enabling me to bring those ideas to life more efficiently.â€

Our research team is also exploring new AI frontiers, like **Neural Motion Control**, a prototype that allows animators to direct character motion using a few keyframes and a neural network. This gives them greater control while saving time, so they can focus on crafting unique performances.
### Boosting Efficiency with Autodesk Flow
**Autodesk Flow** is the cloud platform designed specifically for Media and Entertainment, connecting workflows, teams, and data across the entire production lifecycle. At AU 2024, we're unveiling several new features that enhance efficiency and collaboration.
- **Flow Capture** now offers a reimagined user experience, making it easier to organize and access assets in one central location.
- The **Flow Graph Engine API** empowers developers to run Bifrost graphs in the cloud, enabling custom compute solutions. DigitalFish, for example, is using this API to build an XR workflow that brings pre-visualization to the set using Apple’s visionOS.
- **Flow Animating in Context for Maya** connects editorial timelines directly into Maya, allowing animators to work with the creative intent of the editor in real time, leading to faster and more accurate animations.
We’re also launching **Flow Retopology**, available in both Maya and 3ds Max 2025, which offloads complex mesh preparation to the cloud, freeing up artists to focus on their craft.
### A Future of Creativity and Efficiency
We’re committed to helping you create better, faster, and smarter. Whether through AI, cloud collaboration, or enhanced tools, we’re building a future where artists can focus on what they do best — telling stories.
